In Sisterhood: the Women's Movement in Pittsburgh
Subject
In Sisterhood: the Women’s Movement in Pittsburgh is a community based oral history project documenting the history of the women’s movement in the Pittsburgh region, 1967-1989, by collecting 70 oral histories on digital video to provide a rich new source of regional and national history.
The oral history project focuses on the local roots of the national women’s movement. It features local grassroots activists who toiled to bring about systemic change for women here and elsewhere. Their stories will be a testament to the role of social movements in a democratic society. They will also serve as a lasting tribute to these honorable women and men, allowing them to continue to inspire civic action and foster regional pride among future generations.
