The Lesbian Herstory Archives Founded

The Lesbian Herstory Archives was founded in 1974 by activists Joan Nestle, Deborah Edel, Sahli Cavallaro, Pamela Oline, and Julia Penelope Stanley. It was created out of a desire to prevent lesbian history and culture from disappearing. It stands as the oldest and largest collection of its kind in the world.
