Miss America Protest

The historic Miss America protest occurred on September 7, 1968, when about 200 feminists and civil rights advocates gathered on the Atlantic City boardwalk to demonstrate against the pageant. Organized by the New York Radical Women, it is widely remembered for sparking the “bra-burning” feminist myth, though no bras were actually burned.
