Kitchen Table: Women of Color Press Founded

Kitchen Table: Women of Color Press was founded in 1980 by activists and writers Barbara Smith and Audre Lorde. As the first publishing house in the United States established by and for women of color, it provided a vital platform for marginalized voices in a white-dominated literary world.
